LUCY BRADBURY

Lucy Bradbury is an emerging Irish artist currently studying art, developing a distinctive practice that blends technical sensitivity with playful narrative. Educated at Loreto Abbey School, Dalkey, she has built a strong foundation while continuing to evolve her voice through both study and commissioned work.

Her work spans two interconnected strands. The first centres on pet portraits, where she captures not just likeness but personality—often introducing subtle human quirks, gestures, or scenarios that elevate each piece beyond a traditional commission. These works balance humour and intimacy, giving animals a quietly anthropomorphic presence without losing their authenticity.

The second strand explores a more impressionistic style, using loose brushwork and layered colour to evoke mood, atmosphere, and storytelling. Here, Lucy leans further into narrative and character, often blurring the line between human and animal worlds.

Over the past three years, Lucy has completed numerous commissions and sold over 20 original oil paintings. Her work has received recognition through the Texaco Children’s Art Competition, where she was shortlisted for the final in 2023 and awarded Certificates of Merit in 2022 and 2024.

Lucy continues to build a body of work that is both technically assured and quietly distinctive, offering a fresh, character-driven perspective within contemporary figurative painting.
