Ties

This double portrait from Steve Bradbury depicts two girls facing away from each other with their hair tied together in a braid. The symbolic meaning of this is if you are looking East or West, it’s the female ties and bonds that keep cultures alive and provide that grounding presence that is often disrupted and destroyed by ego-centric men trying to “out-power” each other.  In the current world order with conflict in Ukraine, Gaza and the Middle East, it becomes a symbol of hope.
