The Ha’penny Bridge is an iconic landmark in Dublin, Ireland, and is sometimes called the Penny Ha’penny Bridge, and the Liffey Bridge.
It was built in May 1816 to replace the poor conditioned ferries that were operated by William Walsh to cross the Liffey river. Walsh was told that he had to fix the ferries or build a bridge; he chose the latter and was granted permission to charge a ha’penny toll from anyone crossing the bridge for 100 years. The toll continued (albeit increased to a penny-ha-penny for a time) until 1919.
This print from my original oil painting on wood. I like to provide a sense of nostalgia or a feeling of a memory in my paintings; hazy around the edges. It allows the viewer to create their own story while trying to fill in the blanks.
All my prints are giclée printed on canvas and mounted in a wooden frame and are ready to hang. All prints can be shipped worldwide. There’s also FREE SHIPPING in Ireland.
Giclée printing is a process for producing Fine Art prints from original artwork using highly specialised printers and ‘Epson Ultrachrome’ pigment inks on canvas. This ensures the prints are of archival quality and in addition to being permanent and non-fade, when displayed they are virtually indistinguishable from original paintings.
