Poolbeg Stacks

3,250.00

For every lover of the chimneys at Poolbeg Generating Station, or Poolbeg Stacks or the Pigeon House, as they are colloquially known, you’ll find someone who still thinks that they should never have been built.  The two iconic red and white chimneys, built in 1969 and 1977 stand at over 207 metres tall and can be seen on the skyline almost everywhere in Dublin. Beautiful they are not, nor are they useful, considering they were decommissioned in 2010.
When the ESB was thinking of demolishing them in 2014, there was uproar, despite taking up too many resources to maintain. The decision was overturned and the Chimneys are staying.  They are a great indicator that you’re nearly home, whether travelling by car, ferry or by air, you can spot them from miles off.

This landscape painting uses gaps and drips in the image to provide a sense of nostalgia or a feeling of a memory; hazy around the edges. It allows the viewer to create their own story while trying to fill in the blanks.

All originals come framed and ready to hang.  There is also FREE SHIPPING across Ireland.
