“Orangutan”

I have always been fascinated with Orangutans since visiting zoos in my childhood. It wasn’t, however, until I worked at Twycross Zoo that I fully appreciated the devastation that we are causing to these amazing creatures through deforestation and the impact of our actions (or lack of) on climate change.

This painting is my interpretation of the impact we are having on this endangered (and critically endangered Sumatran) species.  The gaps and drips in the image of the animals depict the fact that we are slowly eroding the environment and the wildlife within it. I hope that my wildlife collection will provide some conversation and publicity around endangered animals.
