Create a Winter Comic Story — One Character, Many Art Forms

This winter, Sparknet invites young artists to step into a cozy creative studio and bring one magical winter character to life — from clay to paint, drawing, and mixed media.

Over 4 fun-filled mornings, children will design a character and tell its story through different art techniques, turning their ideas into a mini winter comic story they’ll be proud to take home.

Perfectly timed while Brown Thomas Winter Sales are on — parents can enjoy shopping, coffee, or meeting friends, knowing their children are creating, learning, and having fun nearby.

What to Expect

Day 1 – Meet the Character

Drawing with Pencils & Markers

Children begin by imagining and designing their main winter character. Using pencils and markers, they explore facial expressions, outfits, emotions, and personality. By the end of the day, each child knows who their character is — their name, mood, and winter powers.

Day 2 – Bring the Character to Life

Clay & Pottery

The drawn character becomes three-dimensional. Children sculpt their hero, creature, or magical being in clay, focusing on form, texture, and details. This day strengthens observation skills and brings imagination into physical form.

Day 3 – Tell the Story

Comic Drawing & Zine Creation

Now the adventure begins. Children create a simple comic-style story featuring their character — what happens to them, where they go, and what challenges they face. Pages are assembled into a small handmade zine, combining drawing and collage elements.

Day 4 – Create the Winter World

Watercolour Painting

The story’s setting comes to life through watercolor. Children paint a winter landscape inspired by their character’s world — snowy forests, magical towns, icy skies, or cozy indoor scenes. This final piece completes their winter comic journey.
